Manning McCandlish’s watercolor “Peaceful Waters” was awarded Best in Show at Niagara Art Guild’s newly launched spring show at the Niagara History Center, 215 Niagara St., Lockport.
The show, which opened this past Saturday, was judged by Sherryl Perez, who has been working in watercolor and other media for 20 years. Perez is a member of the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society and the Fine Arts League.
Other award winners in the show are:
• Maggie Eaton’s “Lock 55,” first place in photography.
• Phil Eaton’s “Crayola Falls,” first place in oil and acrylic painting.
• Roberta Newton’s “Nature’s gift,” first place for mixed media.
• Peggy Taylor’s sculpture “Just Keep Dancing,” second place overall.
• Bridget Newton’s mixed media piece “Trudy,” third place overall.
• Marc Daskavitz’s mixed media piece “Welcome to Milwaukee,” Viewer’s Choice award.
Honorable Mention awards were given to Brady Zdrojewski for his colored pencil drawing “Irish Gate,” Rebecca L. Wilson’s watercolor “New Foundland Gap” and Nona McQuay’s photograph “Dental Dreams.”
The show continues through the end of this month. The Niagara History Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
