ROCKPORT — Voters on Tuesday awarded a seat on the Select Board to Finance Committee Chair Dwight Valentine.
Valentine beat Conservation Commission member Jonathan Lilja, 934-734, to fill the seat held by Select Board Vice Chair Denise Donnelly, who did not seek reelection. He will serve a 3-year term.
Preliminary vote totals for the municipal election were posted shortly after the polls closed at 8 p.m. at the three precincts — Town Hall Annex, 26 Broadway, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 24 Broadway, and the Rockport Community House, 58 Broadway.
In the ballot’s only other contested race, Peter Hanscom bested Randy Hock, 830-607, to win a seat for a 3-year term on the Library Board of Trustees.
All other races on the ballot were non-contested:
— Planning Board incumbents Peter Kuttner and Thomas Mikus earned 1,223 votes and 1,188 votes, respectively, and will serve another three years
— Assessor of Taxes: Incumbent Wilhelmina Moores picked up 1,383 votes for another 3-year-terms.
— Town Clerk Melanie Waddell won 1,544 votes and will be in office another three years.
— Housing Authority candidate Carol Maxfield earned 1,324 votes for a 5-year term.
— School Committee candidate Tammie Titelbaum picked up 1,299 votes for a three-year term.
