PERU — The Nighthawks held a late lead at 14-12. The Vikings made sure to deliver the final message.
Moriah would rally with Maddie Eichen connecting with Lexi Mascarenas to get the go ahead touchdown to secure the 19-14 win.
But, it was a hard fought game where one could see glimpses of the fall in the action.
The lone score in the first half when Nyla Capen found Kenzie Whitmarsh for a 60 yard touchdown pass. Madi Marino added a conversion to put the Nighthawks up 7-0.
The score would remain the same until the second half when Emma Gaddor and Eichen found a connection. Twice the pair connected for touchdown scores to put the Vikings at 12 points.
Sandwiched between the two passes was a beautiful scramble by Capen who scored from 60 yards out to keep the Nighthawks in the lead.
Mascarenas and Eichen had other plans.
“Tonight was a really good flag football game and Moriah was able to score late in the game to take the lead,” Peru’s Ryon O’Connell said.
