A Danville man is being held in the Vermilion County Public Safety Building on a charge of First Degree Murder.
Danville Police Detectives arrested and booked 44-year-old Shane A. May eight hours after responding to a call of a deceased individual in the 700 block of Sherman Street.
An investigation of evidence with assistance from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, and several community members, probable cause was developed to arrest May for the murder of 41-year-old Monty Peplow of Danville, according to a release for the Danville Police Department.
At around noon, April 7, officers responded to the 700 block of Sherman Street after Vermilion County 911 Communications received the call of a deceased body being found in a residence. Officers arrived, locating a body, and immediately initiated a crime scene investigation. The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit assisted. After further investigation, the Vermilion County coroner’s office identified the male victim on the scene as Peplow.
