CUMBERLAND — More than 5,000 Potomac Edison customers remained without electricity Sunday morning after strong winds swept through the region late Saturday.
The storm blew down trees and power lines, and a roof off a structure in the Friendsville area, occupying area first responders for hours.
Nearly 10,000 residents in Allegany County were without power during the height of the storm.
By 7 a.m., that number had been reduced to 4,650 in Allegany County, 1,258 in Garrett and just over 200 in Mineral County, West Virginia.
A severe thunderstorm warning issued by the National Weather Service preceded the storm.
