On Friday, April 18, the Fairfield Glade Hikers will hike to Pickett State Park where they will visit one of the parks: Pogue Creek Canyon.
The hike is approximately 6 miles. They will start the hike at back picnic area of the park. They will hike the Moccasin Rock Trail and Ridge trail to Pogue Creek Canyon and then the Mesa Top Trail to Killdeer Arch and back through part of the upper canyon to the picnic area.
There are many overlooks, towering sandstone bluffs, arches and even a beach. The trail is steep and rocky in places.
The drive to the trail head is approximately 60 miles. Cost for riders is $6.
Bring lunch to eat on the trail. We will return to Fairfield Glade at approximately 4 p.m.
This is a moderate plus hike into and out of Pogue Creek Canyon. Hikers are asked to assess their fitness levels. All trails can have roots and rocks. Boots are always required.
