A 34-year-old Niagara Falls woman dropping her child off at a Wheatfield school Wednesday morning is facing a felony driving while ability impaired by drugs charge.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office says 911 dispatchers received a call of a possible intoxicated driver at Errick Road Elementary School about 9 a.m. Wednesday. Arriving deputies quickly located a vehicle being driven by Savannah M. Ciocco, 34, of Niagara Falls, who had driven onto the sidewalk in front of the school’s entrance.
An investigation determined that Ciocco had just dropped off a 5-year-old student at Errick Road Elementary when school staff noticed her condition and called 911.
Deputies on scene performed field sobriety testing on Ciocco, and she was arrested on charges of aggravated driving while impaired by drugs – Leandra’s Law violation (felony count), driving while ability impaired by drugs – previous conviction within 10 years (felony count) and endangering the welfare of a child.
Additionally, she was charged with petit larceny for taking an eye patch from the school’s Halloween display.
Ciocco was held at the Niagara County Correctional Facility to be arraigned in CAP Court.
