VALDOSTA — Friday marked the conclusion of an impactful week-long Mock Trial program organized by the Valdosta Municipal Court in collaboration with the Valdosta Housing Authority.
Ten students from the Valdosta Housing Authority took part in this immersive educational experience, which centered on a simulated cyberbullying case, under the guidance of Municipal Court Judge Jeremy Baker.
The students involved in the program were Tiara Hadley, Ariana Mitchell, Aliyah Berrian, Kemarion Newsome, Jamari Gordon, I’Zera Greier, Chris Greier, Yamir Hargrove, Chardonnay Goldwire, and Kamoni Goldwire.
Throughout the week, these students delved into the intricacies of the legal system, taking on roles as lawyers and witnesses. They gained invaluable hands-on experience in legal procedures and courtroom presentations, culminating in a final mock trial that showcased their dedication and newly acquired skills.
City Manager Richard Hardy and Assistant City Manager Catherine Ammons were present to witness the final run of the program. Pulling all of the past week together, the students completed a full run of the trial for attendees.
“These young men and women have done a great job this week. I am so proud of them and all the hard work they have put in,” Baker said.
