Marking 2024 as the fourth year awarding scholarships to traditional and non-traditional higher education-seeking students, 29 students, of which 12 were first in their families to attend college, received the Bond Brothers Scholarship.
Previously known as the Scott Miller Bond Scholarship, it was renamed following the passing of Scott’s brother, Michael Bond. Randy and Glenda Bond, parents of Scott and Michael, chose the new name to honor both sons.
Scott Bond passed away on Thanksgiving Day in 2021 at the age of 43, and Michael Bond passed away in November 2023, just six days shy of his 50th birthday.
During the award presentations, Randy and Glenda shared humorous stories of their sons and reflected on their strong, loving personalities. Glenda noted that despite their mental delays, Scott and Michael always strived to reach their highest potential in whatever they did.
By awarding scholarships to Cumberland County graduates, Randy and Glenda aim to inspire students pursuing education at a TCAT, college or university to strive for their best.
