Yukica honors four
The Joe Yukica New Hampshire Chapter of the National Football Foundation has announced its preseason Player of the Year watch list, and three local standouts were on the 20-player list.
Leading the way was Eagle-Tribune All-Star Salem running back/defensive back Kevin Todisco. He rushed for 903 yards and scored 20 touchdowns last fall.
Another returning Eagle-Tribune All-Star on the list is Pinkerton running back/defensive back/kick returner Matt Morrison, who ran for 885 yards and scored 12 total touchdowns last fall. Also honored were Timberlane quarterback Jeremy Mlocek (1,023 yards, 12 touchdowns passing) and Pelham quarterback/defensive back Nick Muise (578 yards, 8 TDs passing).
Last fall, Pinkerton running back/defensive back was Caden Michaud was one of three finalist for Yukica honors.
Scout team love
Credit goes out to North Andover football coach John Dubzinski and his staff, who each week honor a player or two as Scout Team Player of the Week on the team’s Twitter page. Playing on the scout team — which takes on the starters at practice each day running the opponent’s plays — is a grueling, thankless and very necessary job, so it’s good to see them get some love.
Recently honored Scarlet Knight scout players for the preseason include Evan Toland and Owen Bragg.

Five for Hill
With 44-year-old Rich Hill returning to the Red Sox this week, the veteran lefty has been signed by a stunning five different Boston heads of baseball operations.
Theo Epstein, Ben Cherington, Dave Dombrowski, Chaim Bloom and now Craig Breslow have all signed Hill at separate times in his five stints with the Red Sox organization (2010-12, 2014, 2015, 2022, 2024). In 20 seasons, he’s played for seven organizations.
Captains Corner
The high school sports fall season is officially underway, and we at The Eagle-Tribune want to honor the area’s high school captains as part of our Captains Corner series. Coaches — or parents or the athletes themselves — who would like their captains featured are welcome to submit a photo to dwillis@eagletribune.com. Photos should have all captains featured and ideally in uniform.
One Final Thought
As Michael Muldoon used to say, “If you can bring a smile to someone’s face today, just do it!
