A strong defensive performance helped the Unatego girls basketball team defeat Oxford 52-35 at home on Wednesday in a Midstate Athletic Conference matchup.
The Spartans held the Blackhawks to just four points in each of the first two quarters to build an early lead they would never relinquish.
Lizzie craft scored 16 points in the win while Harly Birdsall followed close behind with 15 points and Avery James added nine.
Aubrey Rickard was the top scorer for Oxford with nine points.
Unatego (10-2) will host Walton/Downsville on Friday while Oxford (8-6) will visit Bainbridge-Guilford the same day.

A big fourth quarter allowed Bainbridge-Guilford to pull away from Walton/Downsville on Wednesday for a 54-32 MAC victory.
Leading by four entering the fourth quarter, the Bobcats outscored W/D 20-2 in the final eight minutes.
Jayslin Henderson led B-G with 24 points, Victoria Suda and Marissa Mayo each netted 11 points and Peyton Umbra provided nine assists.
Grace Walley and Ella Beardslee led W/D with 11 and nine points, respectively.
B-G (8-4) will host Oxford on Friday while W/D (6-5) will be at Unatego the same day.

Delhi 100, Deposit-Hancock 69
Seamus deMauro’s monster game led the Delhi boys to a 100-69 victory over Deposit-Hancock on Wednesday in Midstate Athletic Conference action.
deMauro tied a school record with 43 points to lead the Bulldogs in the high-scoring affair. Ivan Richardson also had a big night with 26 points and Lucas Nealis chipped in eight.
Blake Fortunato led Deposit-Hancock with 24 points in the loss.
Delhi (8-4) will visit Unadilla Valley on Thursday.
Edmeston 59, Cherry Valley-Springfield 30
Edmeston rolled to a 59-30 road victory over Cherry Valley-Springfield on Wednesday in Tri-Valley League action.
The Panthers were led by the trio of Braymon Clark (21 points), Landon Wust (20) and Gavin Zinger (17), who combined to score all but one of Edmeston’s points in the win.
Faustin O’Neill was the Patriots’ top scorer with 12 points.
Edmeston (10-1) will host Richfield Springs on Friday while CV-S (4-7) will be at Gilbertsville-Mount Upton the same day.
Schenevus 64, South Kortright 52 (Tuesday)
Schenevus defeated South Kortright 64-52 at home on Tuesday in a non-league contest.
Jackson Reed and Allen Osborne each had big games for the Dragons, finishing with 27 and 23 points, respectively, in the win.
Parker Popp netted 22 points to lead the Rams in scoring.
Schenevus (8-5) will host Cherry Valley-Springfield next Tuesday.
