GIRLS BASKETBALL
Masconomet 60, Beverly 46 (OT): The Chieftains (7-2) exploded for 18 points in the overtime to pull away from Beverly in a thriller in Boxford. Riley Bovardi scored 17 points with 15 rebounds and four steals to lead Masco, which tied the game at the free throw line with no time left. Ava Allen added 14 and Sami Lalikos scored ten.
Jayden Starr had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Beverly (3-6) while Anna Michaud had eight points and Kayla Everett scored 10.
Swampscott 66, Salem 23: Freshman Anna Kanders kept her smashing debut season going with 28 points and the Big Blue improved to 5-3. Junior Sam Ward scored a dozen of her own and sophomores Cecilia Tripp and Eve Byrne added eight each.
Marblehead 53, Cristo Rey 20: Up by 18 at halftime, the Magicians got 16 points from Tess Andriano to improve to 6-2. Eliza Bland, a forward, added eight points and six rebounds, Lucy MacDonald scored six points, and Carys Moran, Maddy Forbes and Olivia Goldwater had four each in a well-rounded effort.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Peabody 59 Danvers 47: Jariel Tolentino scored 26 points to go with four rebounds and three assists to give the red hot Tanners (7-3) their seventh straight victory. Marc Mendonca (13 points) and Anuedy Medrano (12 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists) both finished in double figures for the winners, who also got seven points, a dozen rebounds and four assists from captain Jimmy Festa.
Salem 50, Swampscott 47: Now 5-1 on the season, the Witches pulled into a first place tie in the NEC Lynch led by 19 points from Elian Rodriguez, who added seven rebounds. Canei Mcleod added 14 points with seven rebounds, Nate Lane scored nine and Rocco Ryan grabbed 11 rebounds.
Connor Chiarello sparked the Big Blue (now 6-2) with 22 points while teammate Noah Bascon dropped in eight.
Malden Catholic 74, St. John’s Prep 38: The Eagles ran into a buzzsaw in their Catholic Conference rivals in this road setback. Brian Norton led his team with nine points, including a pair of 3-pointers, while Michael Miller added seven points and Quinn Stockman and Dewagner De Los Santos had five apiece.

Marblehead 89, Gloucester 72: Shaleyn Callahan had a tremendous time in the 100 breast to lead a great showing by the Magicians while the boys 400 free relay also made the state cutline.
BOYS SKIING
Masconomet takes two: The Chieftains got an excellent race from David Palmer (22.70 seconds), who finished fifth among all skiers at Bradford Tuesday to help his team defeat both Andover (76-59) and Hamilton-Wenham (105-30). Ethan Daly (23.38) took third place against both schools for Masconomet, with Elias Cantor (24.09) and Tyler Durgan (24.32) flying down the slopes as well.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE HOCKEY
Endicott 4, Wesleyan 2: Samantha Fantasia was one of four goal scorers for the No. 15 ranked Gulls (11-4) and also picked up an assist. Lilly Corso added a pair of assists and Celia Dahl earned the win between the pipes.
MEN’S COLLEGE HOCKEY
Wesleyan 3, Endicott 2: The No. 10 ranked Gulls took a tough one goal loss on the road in Connecticut.
