ALTAMONT — The title has never changed hands.
And it still won’t.
Since the National Trail Conference awarded the traveling trophy for girls track and field in 2022, the St. Anthony Bulldogs have been the only team to lift it.
That continued on Tuesday when St. A won the 2025 edition of the meet, scoring 151 points to take the trophy back to the Enlow Center.
“We had a lot of good performances, maybe not our best in all of them, but we had some good runs and performances,” Bulldogs head girls track and field coach Randy Blake said.
Altamont was second in scoring with 76 points. Cowden-Herrick-Beecher City was third with 58. Neoga was fourth with 57 1/2. North Clay was fifth with 57. Brownstown-St. Elmo was sixth with 51 1/2 and Windsor-Stewardson-Strasburg was seventh with 37.
Only able to do four events, freshman sensation Reese Hoene took home first place in three of the four competitions. She finished first in the 400-meter dash at 1:00.59. She was first in the long jump with a leap of five meters and ran a leg in the 4×400-meter relay, which finished in 4:26.50. Hoene was second in the 100-meter dash at 13.06 seconds.
“She’s so versatile,” Blake said. “I’ve actually had her do five different events; I’ve got to make up my mind in the next week what four she’s going to run in the sectional. It could vary, depending on what we feel like at the time.”
Sophomore Aubrey Denning won the 800-meter run in 2:16.77 and the 1600 at 5:21.61.
Reese’s sister, Liv, won the 100-meter hurdles at 17.47 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles at 50.09 seconds.
Junior Cara Hatton won the high jump at 1.47 meters. Sophomore Nora Trupiano won the pole vault at 2.29 meters.
Altamont senior Abigail Weishaar won the 100-meter dash at 13.02 seconds, edging Reese Hoene by four-tenths of a second. Weishaar also won the 200 at 27.55 seconds.
The Lady Indians 4×100-meter relay team (Abigail and Gabriella Weishaar, Ada Roberts and Katie Tedrick) won in 52.43 seconds.
North Clay senior Brooke Koelm won the 3200-meter run in 12:29.65.
The Bombers 4×200-meter relay team (juniors Presley Williams and Addie Sasse and seniors Katie Berner and Cordelia Lytle) won in 1:53.29.
Neoga’s 4×800-meter relay team (seniors Addison Mast, Brynn Richards and Atalie Osborn and sophomore Kendal Lindsay) won in 12:12.01.
Bobcats senior Kyleigh Wallace took first in the shot put at 10.08 meters and first in the discus at 32.35 meters.
Hatchets sophomore Colby McCormick finished first in the triple jump at 9.18 meters.
