CORRIGANVILLE — Citizens’ tips helped deputies find and arrest two men after a disturbance at a Corriganville residence Friday morning.
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office said Robert Pettaway, 32, of Hagerstown, and Jeffrey Pettaway, 34, of Corriganville, fled the home prior to the arrival of law enforcement, apparently because Robert Pettaway was wanted by police in Washington County.
Deputies found the vehicle the men were traveling in abandoned behind a Corriganville business. While searching for them, Jeffrey Pettaway emerged from nearby woods and was detained, deputies said. Tips from various citizens helped deputies locate and arrest Robert Pettaway, who was reportedly attempting to flee up a hillside.
Robert Pettaway was arrested on the warrant. Jeffrey Pettaway was charged with providing a false statement to an officer, harboring a fleeing felon and interfering with arrest.
Both men were being held Friday at the Allegany County Detention Center and awaiting their initial court appearances.
The sheriff’s office said Trooper 5, a Maryland State Police medevac, also assisted with the search.
