Southeast Lauderdale has clinched a playoff berth.
The Tigers rushed for 305 yards to get past McLaurin 38-20 to clinch a playoff spot out of Region 5-3A with two region games left to play.
“I’m super proud of our guys. We had a good week of preparation, and it showed in the way they played,” said Southeast Lauderdale coach Lincoln Luker. “We talked all year about making sure we are in the playoffs. It’s been a goal since day one and we punched our ticket. I couldn’t be more happier for these guys.”
Ty Ruffin had 146 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown to lead the Tiger rushing attack. Gerod Holiday added 72 yards on 10 rushes with a touchdown.
Je’lun Ivy and Jahdailyn Pearson each had rushing touchdowns for Southeast Lauderdale (2-6, 1-1 Region 5-3A).
West Lauderdale 54, Northeast Lauderdale 14
The Knights used a big first quarter to get run past the rival Trojans in a Region 4-4A contest.
West Lauderdale was up 41-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Kayden Peoples had 157 yards rushing on just eight carries with three touchdowns and went 4-of-7 passing for 51 yards and a touchdown to lead the Knights (5-3, 2-0 Region 4-4A).
Travion Mosley had 13 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown for West Lauderdale.
Jase Jimison went 13-of-20 passing for 203 yards with two touchdowns and had 78 yards rushing on seven carries to lead Northeast Lauderdale (2-6, 0-3).
Leake Academy 35, Lamar School 34
George Wilcox tossed for 343 yards with three touchdowns as the Rebels (6-3, 2-1 MAIS District 2-5A) held on to beat the Raiders at Grey Cobb Field in a key MAIS District 2-5A contest.
Wyatt Bond went 16-of-31 for 192 yards with two touchdowns and added 37 yards rushing on eight carries and two touchdowns to lead the Raiders (5-4, 2-1).
Sean Auzenne had five catches for 71 yards with a touchdown for Lamar.
Northwest Rankin 24, Meridian 7
After a 7-7 game at halftime the Cougars (5-2, 2-0 Region 3-7A) scored two touchdowns in the third quarter off two Meridian turnovers to get past the Wildcats (4-4, 0-2) in a Region 3-7A contest.
Scott Central 39, Clarkdale 6
The Rebels (4-4, 1-1 Region 5-2A) raced past the Bulldogs in a Region 5-2A matchup.
Isiah Brown had 82 yards rushing on 23 carries with a touchdown to lead Clarkdale (2-6, 0-3).
