Three Boston Red Sox players — pitchers Garrett Crochet, Aroldis Chapman and third baseman Alex Bregman — were named as reserves for this year’s Major League Baseball All-Star game which will be played on Tuesday, July 15th at Atlanta’s Truist Park.
Crochet came to the Red Sox in an off-season trade with the Chicago White Sox. He is currently 9-4 with a 2.39 ERA in 19 starts. In 120.1 innings, he has struck out 151 batters.
Chapman was signed as a free agent. The left-handed closer has appeared in 39 games and has a record of 3-2 with 15 saves and a 1.25 ERA. In 36 innings, he has struck out 53 batters.
Bregman also signed as a free agent. He is currently on the disabled list but before his injury, he appeared in 51 games and had a .299 batting average with 11 home runs, 35 RBI, while scoring 22 runs and drawing 22 walks.
