The Cooperstown Art Association announced it will host an opening reception for three new exhibits from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 15.
According to a news release, this special evening will celebrate ESSENTIAL ART: The 35th Annual Regional Juried Art Show, “Everything is a Part of Everything Else” by Emily Falco, and the 60th Annual Leatherstocking Brush & Palette Club Fine Arts Exhibition. Awards for ESSENTIAL ART will be presented at 6 p.m.
ESSENTIAL ART, on view in Gallery A through June 25, showcases work by artists from across New York state. Jurors Emma Golden and Sarah Simpson have selected an exhibit representing a diverse range of artistic perspectives and mediums. Simpson, gallery director at SUNY Oneonta, oversees exhibits across three campus galleries while fostering student and professional artistic opportunities. Golden, executive director of the Sam & Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts, has dedicated her career to supporting artists through residency programs, exhibits and community initiatives. Together, they bring extensive curatorial experience and a strong commitment to advancing the visual arts.
“This is one of our most exciting openings of the year,” Executive Director Janet Erway said. “With three dynamic exhibitions under one roof— there’s truly something for everyone, and we’re thrilled to share this moment with our community.”
In Gallery B, “Everything is a Part of Everything Else” features watercolor and oil paintings by Falco, exploring the emergence of spring and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Falco is nationally recognized for the romantic sensibility of her work, with features in American Artist Watercolor magazine and appearances on Martha Stewart Live. She has exhibited extensively since 2008, including at the Salmagundi Club in New York. Falco holds a B.F.A. from The Cooper Union School of Art and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in education at SUNY Plattsburgh. This exhibition will remain on view through June 25.
Gallery C presents “Otsego Dreams: The Annual Leatherstocking Brush & Palette Club Fine Arts Exhibition,” a cornerstone event celebrating the enduring creativity of Otsego County artists. Now in its 60th year, this exhibit features an array of works in watercolor, acrylic, oil and pastel, reflecting both tradition and innovation within the local arts community. The exhibition will be on view through June 17.
The opening reception is free and open to the public. The Cooperstown Art Association Galleries are located in Village Hall at 22 Main St., at the corner of Main and Fair Streets. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
