THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville Bulldogs girls and boys soccer teams secured shut out victories over Dougherty on senior night. The boys had to break open the scoring, but after they did there was no stoping them as they handed the Trojans a 6-0 loss. The girls completely dominated the Trojans in a 13-0 game that was never close.
Each of the girls and boys teams has a trio of seniors this year.
On the girls side, Dallas Hill, Makenna Gainous and Delaney Dyksterhouse are all leading the team. They each secured multiple goals in the game, a product of Thomasville girls head soccer coach Lucas Kimmel putting them in more offensive roles for senior night.
“They’re real important to the team,” said Kimmel. “Just a good performance. They didn’t play their normal positions because it was senior night. I wanted them to have a bit more fun. I was very happy to let them play a bit more offense and they were able to score. They had a good time.”
While Kimmel was very pleased with the 13 goals scored, he was most excited about the number of goal scorers the Lady Bulldogs had and the fact that the team wasn’t reliant on one player. Instead, they worked together for the outcome they wanted.
“It spread out a good bit. It wasn’t all just one or two players,” Kimmel said.
For the boys, their three seniors had solid nights as well. Colby Hall, Seth Rome and Sean Graham are all captain of the team and have been involved with the Thomasville soccer program since they were in middle school.
“They’re captains of the team,” said head boys soccer coach Robert Peterson. “They’re leading by example on and off the field and all have really, really good grades and going to really quality schools and all of them playing soccer year round. So, they’ve kind of led by example through their whole career.”
Rome and Graham were able to score a goal a piece in the Bulldogs 6-0 win over Dougherty.
Both the girls and boys squads sit at second in the region with a 3-1 record. Their last region contest will be on Tuesday against Crisp County and will determine if Thomasville will host a playoff game.
