On Saturday, it made total sense that Pentucket goes by the “Panthers.”
In its Division 3 first round game, No. 13 Pentucket earned a gritty victory over No. 20 Hanover, 2-1, to keep its season alive. And it was a pair of “Cats” leading the team to the win, with Kat Flaherty scoring off a reverse sweep, and Cat Colvin scoring the game-winning goal off a corner.
“We played very well today,” said Pentucket coach Ruth Beaton. “We responded with intensity after their only goal, and made adjustments as a team to play a strong second half. Overall, we played with confidence as a team.”
Pentucket (9-6-4) will now either travel to No. 4 Medfield in the Round of 16, or host No. 29 Holliston (date/time TBD).
