Niagara Falls police have made an arrest in a fatal hit-and-run assault that occurred Oct. 15 on Hyde Park Boulevard.
Patrick J. Washington III, 19, of Buffalo, was taken into custody about 7 p.m. Wednesday at an undisclosed location. A warrant had been issued for Washington charging him with second-degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
Washington was scheduled to be arraigned today in County Court.
The crash occurred about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 15 in the area of Hyde Park Boulevard and D Street.
Responding police located Xavier Goder, 26, of Niagara Falls, laying in the roadway in the 200 block of Hyde Park Boulevard near another vehicle, a 2008 Mercury, which had been damaged and partially pushed up onto the curb. Niagara Falls Fire and AMR responded to the scene. Goder died of his injuries at the scene.
Within minutes, officers were able to get a possible suspect vehicle description, which was reported to be a black Ford Escape with a NY license plate. Patrol canavased the area and located an unoccupied black 2009 Ford Escape with front end damage in the 3500 block of Royal Avenue.
According to a witness at the scene, Gober had been “jumped” and run over multiple times.
