BEVERLY — Beverly School Committee President Rachael Abell said Sunday afternoon that she and Superintendent Suzanne Charochak were waiting for a face-to-face meeting with union leaders ahead of a 6 p.m. deadline.
In a statement just before 4 p.m., Abell said she and Charochak were in a “set meeting room” waiting for Beverly Teachers Association Co-Presidents Julia Brotherton and Andrea Sherman to negotiate and end to the teachers strike.
“We believe that, similar to other communities which have faced these circumstances, the only way to achieve a solution as this point is through face-to-face discussions between our leaders and BTA Co-Presidents Julia Brotherton and Andrea Sherman,” Abell said.
Abell said they will wait until 6 p.m., when a deadline set by a judge for mediation to end and a fact-finding process will kick in.
