Scarpa wins two coaching awards
Bentley football head coach C.J. Scarpa, of Andover, has been named the Coach of the Year (NCAA DII/III) by both New England Football Writers (NEFW) and the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston.
The NEFW Captains and Awards Banquet is Dec. 11. The Gridiron Club hosts the Bob Whelan College Football Awards Dinner Dec. 15.
Scarpa, a former Falcon quarterback and Bentley alum, had an outstanding debut season as Bentley’s head coach. The Falcons posted a 7-4 overall record in 2025, winning the Northeast 10 title for the first time since 2019. Bentley also reached the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2021.
Bentley began the season with three consecutive losses, but Scarpa successfully guided the Falcons through the early adversity. Bentley ultimately won seven straight games to claim the NE10 crown.
Londonderry’s Boles headed to UNH
Londonderry’s Devin Boles, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end who played a post-grad year at Phillips Exeter, will be taking his talents close by to Div. 1 UNH.
Boles was a standout throughout his Londonderry High and Phillips Exeter as a two-time First Team All-State linebacker, All-Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Northeast Prep All-Conference Defensive Lineman. He also copped his team’s MVP and Rookie of the Year.
Boles finished his career with 25 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks.
UNH coach Ricky Santos on the addition of Boles:
“Devin is one of the most complete defensive players in New England. His toughness, motor, and ability to disrupt plays jump off the tape. He’s explosive off the edge and plays with a physicality that fits perfectly with how we want to play defense. His production, leadership, and consistency speak for themselves. We believe Devin has the potential to become a dominant force on our defensive front, and we’re thrilled to keep another elite in-state player home in New Hampshire.”
