TC Curling Club team at USA Curling Nationals
TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Curling Club’s mixed four-person team will be competing in the USA Curling National Championship in Denver this week.
Scott Strouse, President of the Traverse City Curling Club and his team members will compete with the best mixed 4 person teams in the country. They secured their place in the National tournament after winning the Great Lake Curling Association Regional Tournament in Detroit in January.
Strouse’s team includes Joann Hanafi, Jillian Riecke and Ralph Puertas.
Their first game is Wednesday at 7 p.m. MT. Their schedule also includes two games Thursday at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., ending the round-robin portion of the tournament with two games Friday at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
If they advance from round-robin play, the qualification and semifinals are scheduled for Saturday with the finals Sunday.
The team is the first the TCCC has had curling on the National Stage.
Curling Club’s Cherry Bombspiel set for April 16-19
TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Curling Club hosts the annual Cherry Bombspiel from Thursday-Sunday.
The Cherry Bombspeil curling tournament attracts 36 teams from around the United States and Canada.
The four day tournament starts Thursday at 2:30 p.m., with games continuing throughout Friday and Saturday as the participating teams compete to play in the semifinals at 9 a.m. Sunday, with finals following at noon.
The Traverse City Curling Club is open to the public during this event all events are free. The Traverse City Curling Club welcomes the community to join us in watching competitive curling. The TCCC will also have volunteers onsite to answer questions about the sport and/or local programs.
Games are scheduled Thursday from 2:30-9:30 p.m. On Friday and Saturday games are from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
