CUMBERLAND — Carly Wilt and Jayden Weaver scored in double-figures, and Southern took down Allegany, 59-42, in the teams’ opener Saturday.
The Rams (1-0) led 16-11 after the first quarter, 27-22 at the half and 43-32 after three periods. Wilt tallied a game-high 19 points, hitting a trio of 3-pointers, and Weaver added 13.
Avery Miller paced Allegany (0-1) with 17 points.
Both squads had balanced offensive outputs, with eight players scoring for each.
Kelsey Ward finished with seven points for Southern, and Emelee Parks added six. Amanda Vizza ended with nine points for Allegany.
Allegany is at Jefferson (0-1) on Monday at 7 p.m. Southern heads to Elkins on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Cumberland Valley 49 Bishop Walsh 37
CUMBERLAND — Addison Teal and Reason Witmer each scored 17 points, leading Cumberland Valley to a win over Bishop Walsh on Friday.
Teal scored nine points in the second quarter while Witmer scored 10 in the second half for the Blazers (1-1).
Grace Elliott led the Spartans (0-2) with 11 points, scoring eight after halftime.
Cumberland Valley led 8-4 after one quarter, 24-18 at halftime and 34-29 heading into the fourth.
Bishop Walsh heads to Calvary (0-0) on Monday at 5 p.m.
