TIFTON — With a new look, new equipment, and importantly, a new AC system, the staff of Southern Bodies Fitness Center celebrated the completion of more than four years of renovations July 12.
As one of Tifton’s oldest gyms, the establishment has been a center for workouts, weightlifting, and the pursuit of fitness for over 25 years. After coming into the ownership of the classic fitness center about five years ago, Mickey Jacobs set to work revitalizing it, updating the gym’s signage, equipment, and services over the next few years to ensure it could remain a cornerstone of the Tifton community today for just as long.
“It’s been a challenge, but it’s been well worth it,” Jacobs said. “We see every day — every time we do something, we add something, we can see a little more excitement in the eyes of the members, a little joy. They seem to find joy in what we do, in our improvements.”
To celebrate the occasion, Southern Bodies welcomed the local chamber of commerce to conduct a ribbon cutting, dubbing the event their “re-grand opening” and providing some healthy snacks to the guests of the ceremony.
Jacobs also had plans to celebrate throughout the weekend, inviting local businesses CRUSHH+ Mobile IV Bar and Statera Wellness Spa & Salon, as well as Valdosta based 5 Star Nutrition, to make appearances and showcase their services and holding raffles to win Braves or Falcons tickets, a car, or memberships to the gym.
Southern Bodies Fitness Center is located at 604 W. Second St., and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For more information, contact (229) 386-1202.
