WESTPORT — Snowfort Books, a cozy new bookstore and community gathering spot in downtown Westport, will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, May 17 with a day of festivities including food, music, literature, and family-friendly activities.
Located at 6592 Main Street, Snowfort blends small-town charm with creative energy, offering new and used books, a vibrant play area for kids, and regular cultural programming.
The store’s grand opening festivities will highlight its mission: to be a welcoming hub for readers, families, and creatives in the Adirondacks and beyond.
The day begins at 11 a.m. with a ribbon cutting in partnership with the Westport Wadhams Community Alliance (WWCA). Guests can enjoy coffee, donuts, mimosas, and quiche during the ceremony.
At noon, families are invited to a children’s celebration, featuring a story hour and art-making activity with author Amy Guglielmo.
Throughout the day, Snowfort will be open for bookselling and giveaways from noon to 6 p.m., with food and drink including Irma’s Tamales and popsicles from King of Pops, a nod to co-founder Amy Robinson’s Atlanta roots. In the afternoon, Slow Wasps, co-founder Adam Robinson’s rock band, will play a live set at the old Skidoo Shop behind the bookstore.
The celebration continues into the evening with an after-party at The Mill, another exciting new destination in Westport, and just down the street from the bookstore. The event will feature a signature cocktail and poetry readings by the Robinsons.
“We wanted Snowfort to feel like a second home—somewhere to gather, explore, and connect,” Amy Robinson says.
“We’re excited to open our doors and celebrate with the Westport community.”
