A man is in custody after rifle shots were fired near St. Peter Thursday in the Cedar Ridge residential area, according to a Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office news release.
According to the release, officers were requested to do a welfare check in the Cedar Ridge Road area when they encountered the man in question with a rifle outside his residence. The man fired several shots, but the release noted that the man “was in a location where there was no threat to the public.”
The release stated that the officers were able to establish a perimeter of containment around the man.
The incident is part of an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available at the time of publication.
Cedar Ridge Road is located approximately two and a half miles north of downtown St. Peter, on the west side of U.S. Highway 169, listed as Traverse Township.
