SALEM, N.H. — On Wednesday, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan along with U.S. Representative Chris Pappas (Nh-01) delivered remarks at the inaugural celebration of New Hampshire Life Sciences in Salem.
The statewide life sciences association fosters economic growth and awareness of the life sciences industry in New Hampshire, bringing world-class talent and innovation to the state.
“Fueling local economies and growing industries, including New Hampshire’s innovative life sciences industry, requires collaboration,” Shaheen said. “That’s why I’m glad to see so many companies and organizations in this association developing cutting-edge therapies right here in the Granite State that will save lives in the state and beyond.”
She continued to say the formation of New Hampshire Life Sciences will help improve lives by growing the economy and creating well-paying jobs.
“Today’s Live Free Live Science celebration reaffirms that anyone who wants to innovate, research, or create should come to the Live Free or Die State,” Hassan (D-NH) said.
As chair of the U.S. Senate Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, Shaheen (D-NH) leads efforts to promote American innovation and accelerate long-term sustainable economic growth.
In July, the New Hampshire Congressional delegation accepted $44 million in federal funding awarded to the ReGen Valley Tech Hub through bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act to accelerate Southern New Hampshire’s growth into a global epicenter for the production and distribution of regenerative cells, tissues and organs.
Prior to that, Shaheen and Hassan hosted Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo at ARMI following Economic Development Administration’s selection of Southern New Hampshire’s BioFabrication Cluster as a Build Back Better Regional Challenge awardee.
The separate $44 million award, which the trio advocated for, is being used as a down payment to establish Southern New Hampshire’s leading role in regenerative tissue and organ production.
