NORTH CREEK — Schroon Lake/Newcomb wrapped up the Northern Soccer League Division III boys’ championship on Friday.
It didn’t come easy, however.
Peyton Phillips scored off a Cameron Jabaut assist in the second overtime to give the Wild Huskies a hard-fought 3-2 victory.
The Irish Jags held 1-0 and 2-1 leads in the game before Schroon Lake/Newcomb forced overtime in the second half on an own goal, which was credited to the Wild Huskies’ Logan Phillips.
Aaden Sauer-Jones gave Johnsburg/Minerva the lead in the opening half only to have Jabaut tie it on a direct kick.
Clay Morin, who assisted on Sauer-Jones’ first-half tally, put the Wild Huskies back on top, at 2-1, with a direct kick in the second stanza.

KEENE — Brayden Harmer scored two goals in under a two-minute span in the first half to help give the Beavers their NSL Division III victory.
In addition, Harmer reached 100 points for his varsity career.
Wyatt Martin added a second-half goal for Keene, with the assist going to Ignacio Carnicero.
The shutout in net went to Peter Robjent, who made just two saves as the Beavers held an 11-2 shots on goal advantage.

CHAMPLAIN — Deacon Whitmarsh scored two goals and the Nighthawks closed out their NSL Division I regular season with a win over the Cougars.
Whitmarsh gave Peru the lead at 32:46 of the first half, with Seanan Edwards getting the assist.
Edwards tallied 21:48 into the second half and Whitmarch closed out the scoring at 29:53.
Matt Trombley turned away four shots in the Peru nets to get the shutout.
“Credit to coach (Matt) Armstrong and his staff,” NCCS coach Craig Botten said. “They have put together a tough team to beat.”

CHAZY — Kahne Labombard tallied two first-half goals as the NSL Division II-champion Eagles closed out a 12-0 season in the league and improved to 15-1 overall.
Landon Duprey and Jack McAuliffe each added a goal and two assists, while Jack Rovers, Zeke McLennan and Chadd Devins tallied a goal apiece.
It was Senior Night for Chazy and eight players got on the scoresheet with at least a goal or assist in the contest. Henry Kapp needed to make just one save for the shutout.
Lukas Burns was busy in the Patriots’ nets with 16 stops.
