For the past four years, Resurgence Brewing has teamed up with Ten Lives Club and local rescues and shelters to raise funds to save the lives of animals in Western New York, raising close to $200,000 with a special photo contest called the “Resurgence to the Rescue Pet Photo Contest!”
This year more than $20,000 was raised for Ten Lives Club and Buddy’s Second Chance Rescue through the contest and the winners of the contest will be celebrated from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Resurgence.
The winners were Tum Tum the rescue cat from Ten Lives Club and Gauge the German shepherd, who will be the faces of the new Resurgence to the Rescue summer beer can!
Tum Tum was fostered through Ten Lives Club and like a superhero, he had to overcome many challenges! He came to his foster mom Kelsie Kupiec, needing quite a bit of care and love, and had a few rough days (including 24 hours in an incubator), but he was able to overcome fading kitten syndrome like a champ.
Gauge the German shepherd’s owner, Chelsea Hacker, was in a tragic car accident on Twin City Highway in Tonawanda that ultimately took her life on May 5. Now, Chelsea’s boyfriend, Thomas Sell, is honoring Chelsea by helping other animals with Gauge because there was nothing she loved more than Gauge and helping four-legged friends.
“These incredible animals deserve to be recognized for their beautiful hearts and bravery during difficult times. They have both been through so much and it is our honor to celebrate them for the amazing animals that they are!” said Kimberly LaRussa, public relations manager for Ten Lives Club.
The Resurgence to the Rescue Beer Can Release Party will feature summer beer for purchase with Tum Tum and Gauge’s faces on the can and information about Ten Lives Club and Buddy’s Second Chance Rescue. There will also be adoptable rescue dogs and cats, animal-related vendors, giveaways, basket raffles and a silent auction by Total Sports Enterprises.
The public is encouraged to come out with their four-legged friends to the event and all dogs in attendance will receive a free pup cup! Plus event sponsors Clyde’s Feed & Animal Center and Cellino Plumbing will have free goodies to give away. Resurgence Brewing is located at 55 Chicago St., Buffalo.
