ST. PETER — Minor traffic delays and a road closure are expected during an upcoming repair project on the historic Highway 99 Minnesota River Bridge in St. Peter, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Starting Monday traffic will be reduced to one lane across the bridge with a flagging operation in place for approximately a week.
The bridge will be closed to traffic for one-day during a stage of the project. Highway 99 traffic will be detoured that day to Le Sueur County Road 21 (Golf Course Road), Shanaska Creek Road, Highway 22 and Highway 169.
Work on the sidewalk will include structural steel repairs. The sidewalk has been closed since late June after it sustained damage due to flood waters from the Minnesota River.
