SANBORN — SUNY Niagara will host information sessions for anyone who is interested in SUNY Reconnect, the program that offers free tuition and pays for other education-related expenses. New York state residents who are 25 to 55 years old, have not earned a college degree, and plan to enroll in one of several degree programs at a community college are eligible for SUNY Reconnect.
“SUNY Reconnect will give people a fantastic opportunity to pursue degrees needed for some of the most in-demand fields in New York,” said Stephanie Florczak, SUNY Niagara director of admissions. The program “offers an unparalleled level of support for those who take advantage of it,” she added.
The first two “Reconnect @ SUNY Niagara” sessions will be virtual, one on June 25 from noon to 1 p.m. and other on July 8 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The college will hold an in-person session on July 23 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Learning Commons.
To register for an information session, go to: sunyniagara.edu.
Each session will discuss admissions, financial aid and other aspects of SUNY Reconnect. They will also include an overview of the college’s services aimed at student success, such as credit for prior learning, which takes the place of coursework and counts toward a degree, and the SUNY Niagara Child Development Center, which provides best practice-based early childhood education and care.
Announced in May, SUNY Reconnect will launch in the fall 2025 semester. The program will cover the costs of tuition, fees, books and supplies after other forms of tuition assistance are applied to students’ college bills.
