MANKATO — The REACH in Mankato recently underwent a name change and is now known as LSS Youth Resource Center — Mankato
The main goal with the name change is to make it easier for clients to find the resources they need, said Tammy Moses, program director of Lutheran Social Service youth services in Mankato.
“The premise was to get our name out there and make it easier for people to identify us and the services we’re providing,” she said.
The Resource Center offers services to youth ages 16 to 24 who are experiencing or facing the possibility of homelessness.
It has been open for 14 years. About 120 young people are served annually at the Resource Center and in the last year, there were 3,144 visits.
Lutheran Social Service has youth resource centers throughout the state, and the naming convention is changing at each to make them consistent.
“Our goal is that we are more easily identifiable by our name to know who we serve,” Moses said. “It’s pretty logical. It makes sense and it’s going to help young people find us if they’re doing a search to find services.”
LSS Youth Resource Centers are in Mankato, Rochester, St. Cloud and Willmar.
