O’FALLON — While the Danville Dans lost to the O’Fallon Hoots on Thursday, the Dans were able to show some fight.
The Dans saw themselves down 9-0 after four innings, but was able to battle back to only lose by a 9-6 score.
After O’Fallon scored three in the second and six in the fourth, the Dans started to cut into the lead in the fifth on a three-run home run by Joshua Martin to make it 9-3.
In the seventh, Paul Wittmann hit a two-run shot to get the score to 9-5 and in the eighth, Jorge Santana II scored on an error, but the Dans could not get any closer.
CJ Sturiale had the start and had two strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings, while Dylan King came in and had eight strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings to slow down the Hoots’ attack.
The Dans will return to Danville Stadium on Friday for a doubleheader against the Terre Haute Rex starting at 5:30 p.m. It will be Little League and Team Poster Night. Little League teams will be recognized on the field between games, and the first 500 fans will get a team poster that the Dans will autograph after the game.
