ST. MICHAEL — Mankato West’s Ruby Marble won both the 100 and 200 at the Class AA girls track and field meet at St. Michael-Albertville on Thursday.
Marble, a sophomore, won the 100 with a time of 11.96. She won the 200 with a new Class AA record time of 24.43. The Scarlets had the second-best team score in the girls meet with 57.5 points.
Jaelyn Doss took eighth place in the 100 (12.68) for West. The Scarlets’ 4×100 relay team of Doss, Ava Olson, Avery Schmitz and Marble finished second (1:44.82), as did the 4×400 team of Mikaela Stenzel, Landree Quint, Aubrey Doyscher and Schmitz (3.56.91).
For the East girls, Rylie Hansen took second in the triple jump (38-foot-11 1/2) and third in the pole vault (12-3).
Adaylia Borgmeier won the 200 wheelchair (33.86), 400 wheelchair (1:10.51) and 800 wheelchair (2:25.81). Madison Harbarth took first in the 100 wheelchair (24.85) and finished second in the shot put wheelchair (15-0). Lauren Henkels took seventh in the 800 (2:18.51), while Yonna Harris got tenth in the shot put (36-11).
For the St. Peter girls, Keira Friedrich won the 1600 (4:51.90), while Ella Dirks took the 800 (2:13.63).
Waseca’s Bella Wikan got third in the triple jump (37-7 3/4).
In the boys Class AA meet, West’s Anthony Johnston got third in the long jump with a school-record mark of 22-10 1/4.
The Scarlets’ 4×100 relay team of Johnston, Ayden Betts, Mikhi Davis and JonathanLi Rud got third (42.28), as did the 4×200 team of James Garrett, Betts, Rud and Davis (1:28.15). West’s 4×400 relay of Rud, Tyler Kirchoff, Riley Johnson and Davis finished second (3:21.15).
For the East boys, Hayden Tischler got fourth in the long jump (22-8 3/4), while Carter Schwartz took sixth in the discus (161-10).
The Cougars’ 4×400 relay of Mickale Smith, Jackson Henkels, Luke Scheel and Yurem Kosgei got third (3:21.99), as did the 4×800 of Audi Thom, Henkels, Colin Talle and Dayton Clobes (8:01.58).
Class A: Mankato Loyola/Cleveland’s Charlotte Meyer got third in the girls 1600 (5:11.91), while the Crusaders’ Maddie Huiras finished ninth in the 300 hurdles (45.71).
Janesville Waldorf Pemberton’s MaKenzie Westphal won the 800 (2:18.90), helping the Bulldogs to the best team score in the girls meet at 41 points.
LeSueur-Henderson’s Riley Sater won the pole vault (11-6), while St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran’s Kate Daly took third in the high jump (5-4).
In the boys Class A meet, Mankato Loyola/Cleveland’s Chase Kijenski finished third in the 300 hurdles (39.48), while Maple River’s Auggie Yonkey won the discus (172-9).
Baseball
New Ulm Cathedral 8, South Ridge 1: Jake Finstad tossed a two-hit shutout for the Greyhounds in their win in the Class A semifinals at St. Cloud.
Colin Anderson and Elliot Schabert each had two hits and two RBIs for Cathedral.
The Greyhounds play Red Lake County in the Class A championship game at 10 a.m. Saturday at Target Field.
Pierz 7, Maple River 1: Wyatt Walters and Carson Urban each had two hits for the Eagles as they lost in the Class AA consolation game at St. Cloud.
Caleb Thompson allowed three earned runs over 5 1/3 innings for the Eagles.
Maple River finishes the season at 19-8.
