TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City West Volleyball hosted schools from across the state during a Saturday tournament.
The Titans lost to Rockford 25-15, 25, 28 and then to Byron Center 25-21-25-16.
Traverse City Central went 2-2 on the day, beating Grandville 25-17, 25-13; losing to Byron Center 18-25, 23-25; beating Grand Rapids Catholic 25-18, 25-13; and falling to Muskegon Mona Shores 23-25, 25-2, 10-15.
Traverse City St. Francis, the smallest school in the tournament by far, posted a 1-3 record, beating Portage Central 25-22, 25-22 and falling to Mona Shores topped 25-16, 21-25, 15-6, Rockford 25-12, 25-14 and Grandville 25-20, 23-25, 15-6.

Norsemen win NMC Invite
The Suttons Bay volleyball team came away victorious at the McBain Northern Michigan Christian Early Season Invite Saturday.
Suttons Bay defeated Farwell 26-24, 25-17; NMCS 25-14, 25-18; Mesick 25-8, 25-16; and Algoma Christian 25-16, 15-17.
Suttons Bay senior Megan U’Ren had 12 kills and four aces; Ava Anderson 17 kills; Cecelia Koleno 13 kills, 4 aces; Anna Porter 9 kills.
Elks 2-3 at Leland Invite
Elk Rapids defeated Troy Athens 26-24, 25-15; lost against Fowler 25-19, 25-20; lost to Portage Northern 25-22, 25-16, 15-4; won against Leland 25-18, 25-13; lost vs. Marshall 25-18, 25-20, 15-.

“I’m so proud of these girls,” Ramblers first-year coach Tyla Coates said. “They didn’t give up and they wanted this win so bad. I’m really excited to see how well they do in the future. They were able to adapt and step up when needed. We showed resilience and determination.”

Kingsley wins 1st soccer trophy ever
The Kingsley Stags won their first trophy in boys varsity soccer with a dramatic win over Buckley in the Blue Gold Classic final.
Kingsley won its first game in the tournament 3-1 against Roscommon, thanks to a Ian Mitchell hat trick and 7 saves from goalkeeper Colin Wysochil.
In the championship game, Kingsley faced host Buckley, which went up 1-0 early on a corner kick play. Kayden Baker drew the Stags level in the second half with a goal assisted by Mitchell. At the end of regulation is was 1-1. In the penalty kicks shootout, freshmen keeper Connor Pierce saved a pair of penalty kicks to give the Stags a 4-1 shootout victory.
Kingsley (3-0-1) travels Monday to play Harbor Springs.
