LUDINGTON — Nothing has been smoother than Voss water for the Glen Lake boys tennis team as the Lakers have put together a strong run in the early part of the season.
“Make that the opening,” first-year Glen Lake head coach Johnny Voss said with a laugh.
The 22-year-old Cincinnati native has the Lakers playing ice-cold tennis this season with a 5-1-1 record to start the season, including a a loss to Petoskey and a tie to Grand Haven on Friday.
The boys finished with a tie on Friday to Grand Haven in the Ludington quad, with both schools finishing with 20 points each. Ludington finished third (7) followed by Muskegon Mona Shores (1) ending in fourth place.
“That’s the best part of playing against some of these schools. Some of my singles players don’t get to see much competition upstate, it’s good for them to figure it out,” Voss said.
Senior Colebrook Sutherland finished the day 1-1 with a win against Ludington. In one-doubles, Ben Romzek and Oliver Mitchell collected a win against Mona Shores.
The Lakers have a tri-meet on Monday at Traverse City St. Francis.
