NORTH MANKATO — Police are seeking the public’s help in an investigation of a prowling incident Monday evening involving an alleged threat of violence, as well as possibly-related vehicle break-ins in lower North Mankato neighborhoods.
North Mankato police responded to an 11:30 p.m. report of a person rummaging through a vehicle parked on the 700 block of Lyndale Avenue. The caller was in the act of an on-foot pursuit of the subject.
Responding officers found the caller near the intersection of Range and Page streets. The caller said the chase with the suspect had ended in the 500 block of Range Street.
The suspect allegedly threatened to stab the caller, who described the person being chased as a tall Black man in his late teens or early 20s who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and wind pants. He was running west on Range Street when last seen by the caller.
The suspect was not located by the police.
Tuesday morning, police received several reports of overnight break-ins to vehicles parked on the 300 and 400 blocks of Belgrade Avenue and the 400 and 500 blocks of South Avenue.
Residents of that area of North Mankato who have surveillance cameras on their properties are requested to review recent videos for images of the suspect. Reports of finding images may be made by calling North Mankato Police Department at 507-625-7883.
