VALDOSTA — South Georgia can look forward to a pleasant week, forecasters said Friday.
High temperatures in Valdosta and Tifton are expected to be in the upper 70s throughout the week underneath sunny or mostly sunny skies, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
A cold front coming through the Southeast over the weekend was the prime mover of the region’s weather, said Israel Gonzales, a meteorologist for the weather service’s Tallahassee, Fla., office.
“It won’t reduce the temperatures much,” he said, “but it will bring in a mass of dry air behind it which will shut down rain.”
From Saturday through Thursday, the weather service sees no chance of rain in Valdosta, forecasts show.
High temperatures in the region will run a little above historic averages, said Bob Larson, senior meteorologist at the private forecasting firm AccuWeather.
“We’re in a lazy weather pattern without much happening,” he said.
Neither forecaster foresaw any chance of severe weather in the region.
