CLINTONVILLE — Sections collided at AVCS as Section X teams and Section VII teams competed in the pool Saturday. Plattsburgh came out on top in the team scoring, with Peru not far behind at second. Potsdam was the top team from Section X, finishing third.
AuSable Valley, Massena and Moriah made up the back half of the team standing.
In the relay races Peru saw great success, taking first place in the 200 medley and the 200 freestyle. In the medley, Helena Cordick, Charlotte Isecke, Mia Coupal and Maddi Mero finished in 2:06.35 for the honor and in the freestyle Mero, Chloe Chase, M. Coupal and Cordick reached the finish after 1:55.94.
Plattsburgh was victorious in the 400 freestyle relay, with Elizabeth Chase, Allie Christodoulou, Kiley Kretser and Kara Kretser bringing their A-game to finish after 4:16.26.
St. Lawrence’s Sonja Wultsch-Fuller was the only athlete to take home multiple first-place finishes in individual events, winning the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:37.06 and the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.95.
Plattsburgh’s Kara Kretser won the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:01.06. She joined her gold finish with a silver finish in the 100 backstroke, finishing at 1:08.34.
Joining her in gold medals for the first-place Hornets is A. Coupal, who took first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:17.13.
Along with its success in the relays, Peru was led by M. Coupal and Cordick. M. Coupal earned the team first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.59 and second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:17.79. Cordick finished first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:13.39 and second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:51.96.
AuSable Valley earned a first place finish in the 200 IM, thanks to Micalli Johnson, who took first by nearly 10 seconds with a time of 2:33.32.
Rounding out the first palace finishers was Massena’s Tori Cusworth who was the fastest finisher in the 100 backstroke. Cusworth finished 1:03.62 in the race.
