Members of the Plateau Pluckers are enthusiastic about sharing their love of music, particularly with the youngest Cumberland Countians.
Cheryl Edwards, Shelley Chandler, Alan Baker and Diane Gandero took that mission to heart June 16, when they represented the Plateau Pluckers during Story Time at Art Circle Public Library.
“The group highlighted the importance of music in childhood development and introduced the children to the ukulele,” Edwards said. “The event provided a fun and interactive opportunity for young learners to experience the joy of music.”
Several books were read, and Edwards said the children enthusiastically joined in singing songs with the group.
“To top off the morning, each child went home with their very own kazoo, ensuring the music and fun continued long after Story Time ended,” she added.
Edwards shared information about how music helps children grow by boosting brain development, enhancing language skills, supporting emotional growth, building social skills and improving motor skills.
It also creates a bonding experience with families by sharing music with singing, dancing, clapping and playing in daily routines.
“The Plateau Pluckers were delighted to share their love of music with the community’s youngest learners and look forward to future opportunities to inspire a lifelong appreciation of music,” Edwards added.
