PLATTSBURGH — Owen Chapple turned in another strong effort in net and Plattsburgh High had five different players score goals on Saturday in a 5-0 non-league hockey win over St. Lawrence Central.
Chapple made 33 saves to record the shutout, while Cooper Holland, Sam Bezio, Braeden Calkins, Lucas Dashnaw and James Bayer all found the back of the net for the Hornets (7-6-2 overall).
Holland and Bezio tallied goals 22 seconds apart, at 5:18 and 5:40 respectively, in the first period to give PHS a 2-0 lead.
“It wasn’t our best start, but we were able to get on the board early and build momentum from there,” PHS coach Joe Tolosky said.
Calkins then scored just 16 seconds into the second period and it stayed that way until Dashnaw tallied at 13:31 of Bayer 16:12 of the third.
“Offensively, we were very pleased having five different scorers and getting some production throughout our line-up,” Tolosky said. “ It was a full team effort today, from the net on out.”
Dylan Bressett made 28 saves in the St. Lawrence nets.
The Hornets host Beekmantown on Friday at the Ameri-Can North Sports Center with first place in the standings at stake.
