SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Miley Tingler erased a tie with a solo homer in the fifth inning, and Petersburg tacked on three more runs in the sixth to down Logan, 10-6, in the Class AA state tournament on Thursday.
The Vikings advanced to the championship game Friday with the win for a rematch against Logan.
Tingler also homered in the Vikings’ 9-1 win over Sissonville earlier in the day and went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and three runs.
Ella Chew, who drove in eight runs in the Vikings’ come-from-behind 14-12 defeat of Lincoln in their tournament opener, tripled and had four ribbies.
Ella Markwell doubled twice and had two RBIs, and Shyane Tawney singled and scored twice.
Kinsley Crites recorded the win in the circle, allowing a run on three hits in 4 2/3 frames of relief with two strikeouts and a walk.
Logan’s Myleigh Adkins, who is committed to Division II North Georgia, was dealt the loss, though just three of her 10 runs were earned in 5 2/3 innings of work.
