PEABODY — A home on Ellsworth Road was heavily damaged in a two-alarm fire early Sunday morning.
A statement from the Peabody Fire Department said the residents were able to safely get out of the home shortly after the fire was first reported at 6:49 a.m.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 65 Ellsworth Road to find flames in the basement had traveled up the chimney to the first and second floors of the structure.
The home suffered significant damage and the residents were not able to stay there, according to fire officials.
