PELHAM — A collision with a Pelham School District school bus Tuesday morning sent one person to a local area hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
Pelham police and fire responded to the intersection of Mammoth and Keyes Hill road around 6:40 a.m. for reports of a two vehicle crash involving a district bus, police said.
When police arrived, they found a gray Kia Optima with heavy damage pushed off the roadway into the woods. There were four occupants, including two jeveniles, in the vehicle.
The front passenger of the sedan was flown by helicopter to Elliot Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle and the two juvenile occupants were transported to Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Camera footage taken from the school bus showed it traveling southbound on Mammoth Road when the sedan, which was stopped at Keyes Hill Road, pulled out directly in front of the bus.
The school bus had just started picking up students for the start of the school day. Only the bus driver and a family member, who is a student at Pelham School District, were on board. They were not injured.
The accident remains under investigation and the names of those involved are being withheld.
Witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Cpl. Cody Halliday at challiday@pelhampolice.com or 603-635-2411.
