FROSTBURG — Mountain Ridge rallied down 6-2 after five to force extra innings, but No. 4 Northern scored four runs in the eighth, leading to a 10-6 win on Friday.
Rain Ritchey put the Huskies in front on a RBI double followed by a RBI single from Avery Rush.
A ground out and a wild pitch put Northern in front by four.
The Miners scored four runs in the fifth to force extra frames highlighted by Jaianna Wickline and Macy Barth both stealing home.
Ritchey threw a complete game, allowing four hits, three earned runs and eight walks with 15 strikeouts.
She also led the Huskies with three doubles, two RBI and a walk.
Demi Ross recorded two hits including a double and an RBI.
Maci Beeman drew three walks while Barth earned two free passes.
Four Miners recorded one hit each for Mountain Ridge.
The Miners head to No. 5 Petersburg (2-1) on Monday at 6 p.m.
No. 2 Allegany 7, Somerset 4
LAVALE — No. 2 Allegany committed seven errors, but found a way to defeat Somerset on Friday at Lavale Lions Field.
The Campers (3-1) gave up three of Somerset’s four runs off errors.
A five-run second inning saved Alco led by Avery Miller’s three-run home run to left field.
Alyssa Rader doubled for the first run followed by an error in left field.
Jordyn Sneathen earned the win in 4 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and seven walks with seven strikeouts.
Of the four runs charged to her, only one was earned.
Savannah Walton picked up a save in 2 2/3 innings, only allowing two walks with four strikeouts.
The Campers host No. 4 Northern on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
