CUMBERLAND — Sammy Scritchfield and Jake MacGray scored two goals each to guide No. 5 Calvary over Bishop Walsh on Friday at Brother Stephen F. Paul Stadium.
The Eagles (7-0-1) got on the board first at the 25:36 mark as MacGray dribbled the ball down the right side and delivered a cross to the middle.
Scritchfield was crashing the goal and drilled the ball into the right corner for a 1-0 Calvary lead.
Both Calvary and Bishop Walsh battled the rest of the first half but could not find the goal.
In the second half, it was Bishop Walsh that received some momentum at the 44:10 mark when Jackson Miller raced down the left side of the field, received a long through ball at midfield and slid a shot from inside the six-yard box past a diving Calvary keeper to the right side of the goal.

The game’s final goal was scored at the 77-minute mark as a foul was called about 34 yards out on the left side of the field.
Elijah Ziler stepped up and took advantage of the sun that was shining right in the direction of the goalie, and he launched the ball over the keeper’s hands and into the net.
Bishop Walsh had chances with long through balls to Miller, but defensive speedster Gerald Mihailovich was able race back and get into position to counter the attacks.
When Calvary senior Chase Murphy was injured early in the second half, the rest of the team stepped up their game and left it all on the field.
Silas Leith was a key player in switching positions and helping lead the team to the win.
“This win was a tribute to great team effort as Calvary battled injuries and the entire team stepping it up when they had to playing different positions and making things happen,” Calvary assistant coach Bill Scritchfield said.
