WILLIAMSPORT — No. 2 Mountain Ridge scored six goals after halftime and held Williamsport without a shot to roll 8-0 Thursday.
“We started off slow,” Mountain Ridge head coach Jenna Delaney said. “Norah Patterson got a hat trick and got us going for second half. Williamsport’s goalkeeper had some great saves. Our team was able to finish and win.”
Patterson scored in the second minute of the game, assisted by Ava Armstrong, and Fiona Ruddell made it 2-0 Miners at the break scoring off an assist from Reese Rizzo in the final seconds.
Izzy Robison got in on the action unassisted in the 49th minute to kick off a stretch of six Mountian Ridge goals in a little more than 15 minutes.
Patterson followed with two scores for her hat trick, Lyla Robison scored off a Fiona Ruddell assist, and Jessica Kline closed the scoring with a pair of goals, assisted by Ruddell and Robison.
Mountain Ridge out-shot Williamsport, 48-0, and had a 13-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Miners’ JV team traveled to Smithsburg and won 6-0.
Mountain Ridge (10-2-1 overall, 5-2 Western Maryland Athletic Conference) hosts No. 1 Northern (11-1-1 overall, 6-0-1 WestMAC) on Saturday at noon.
No. 3 Allegany 2, Southern 0
OAKLAND — Avery Miller scored her 90th career goals, and Allegany ended a two-game skid with a win at Southern on Thursday.
Miller’s goal came off an Ella Shade assist with 3:04 on the clock in the first half that gave the Campers (7-5-2 overall, 4-3-1 overall) a 1-0 halftime lead.
The Penn State track and field commit leads Allegany in career goals, with Zayne Brakeall second with 46.
Myia Miller found a second goal with 17 seconds remaining unassisted.
Allegany is at Bishop Walsh (0-5-1) on Saturday at 2 p.m. Southern finishes the regular season with a 3-10-1 record.
Southern 9, Petersburg 0
PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Sydney Scott, Noah Musselman and Ava Hunt scored two goals each, Jayden Weaver had a goal and three assists, and Southern routed Petersburg on Wednesday.
Scott scored off an assist form Weaver and then Weaver did so, assisted by Scott, to give Southern a 2-0 lead at the half.
Hailey Harsh also scored for the Rams, and Petersburg issued an own goal. Natalie Bell and Iris Dubansky had assists.
Southern had a 43-4 edge in shots, and keeper Addison Tasker made three saves for the cleansheet.
