CUMBERLAND — Top-ranked Southern held Fort Hill to 11 points over the final three quarters to rout the fifth-ranked Sentinels, 64-25, on Monday.
Southern (15-1), winners in nine straight games, led 20-14 after the first quarter, 36-16 at the intermission and 56-19 going into the final period.
The Rams sunk eight 3-pointers, half of which were made by Carly Wilt, who scored a game-high 16 points. Gabbi Berry joined her in double figures with 10 points, and Emelee Parks and Jayden Weaver added nine each.
MaeLeigh Plummer led the way for the Sentinels (7-5) with eight points.
Southern hosts Berlin on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Fort Hill hosts No. 4 Mountain Ridge (9-6) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
No. 3 Allegany 60, Northern 51
ACCIDENT — Allegany standout Avery Miller crossed 1,500 points and moved into second all-time on the school’s scoring leaderboard in a win over Northern on Monday.
Miller tallied 20 points to up her career total to 1,502, passing Micah Wormack (1,484 points, 2006). Tracey Little (1996-2000) holds the top spot with 1,803 points.
Northern (6-8) lost by 23 the last time the two teams played but didn’t trail by more than five points after any of the first three periods. Allegany (12-3) led 15-10 after the first, 32-29 at the half and 49-44 after three.
Miller, who is signed to Penn State for track and field, added 14 rebounds and eight assists to her scoring total. Maizzy Hose sunk four triples for 14 points, Braylin Bosley scored nine and Amanda Vizza tallied seven points and 11 boards.
Marisa Perez and Abby Nelson paced Northern with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Northern is at Bishop Walsh (5-7) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Allegany hosts Jefferson on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
No. 2 Keyser 75, Berkeley Springs 18
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Four players scored in double figures, as No. 2 Keyser crushed Berkeley Springs on Monday night.
Keyser (13-3) held quarter leads of 20-2, 39-6 and 60-14.
Bibs Felton led the Keyser effort with 15 points, Kiya Kesner scored 13, Abby Delsignore and Austyn Healy added 11, and Rooney Urice chipped in eight.
Katie Risinger was Berkeley Springs’ high scorer with eight points.
Keyser is at Hedgesville on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Johnstown Chr. 37, Calvary 16
CRESAPTOWN — Johnstown Christian limited Calvary to two points in three quarters Monday in a one-sided victory.
Calvary (4-10) garnered eight points in the second period but was held to six combined points the other three. Madie Robinette tallied half of the Eagles’ points Monday.
Ellie Speigle’s 12 points paced Johnstown Christian.
Calvary hosted Heritage on Tuesday and hosts Grace on Friday at 5 p.m.
Philip Barbour 54, Moorefield 35
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Izzy Knotts finished with 25 points to guide Philip Barbour past Moorefield on Monday.
The Yellow Jackets (5-9) led 9-8 after the first quarter but trailed 17-16 at the half and 36-26 going into the fourth.
Philip Barbour struggled at the free-throw line to help Moorefield stay in it, making just 15 of 34 shots from that range.
Kerigan Bergdall (11 points), Sadie Crites (nine) and Korbin Keplinger (eight) paced Moorefield.
Moorefield is at Pocahontas County on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
