CUMBERLAND — Night Traveler will bring its mix of classic rock, country and original music to the Constitution Park amphitheater on Sunday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The event is part of a free swim weekend at the park pool sponsored by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday and AES Warrior Run on Sunday. AES also contributed to a free popcorn giveaway at the Sunday concert in the amphitheater, which will be distributed by the Friends of Constitution Park.
Formed in 2012, Night Traveler consists of Greg Larry on lead guitar and vocals and Gary Price on rhythm guitar and vocals. Bassist Terry Mullaney, formerly of the local band Windfall, joined Night Traveler in 2022.
The band will also be joined by guest vocalists Beth Moran and Liam Robinette, and will feature Craig Miller on drums.
“We’re excited to be playing at the park again,” said Larry. “We’ve been playing there for years and we’ve always thought the venue is a special place in the city.”
Night Traveler plays originals and covers by such artists as James Taylor, Johnny Cash, Alabama, Simon and Garfunkel, Santos and Johnny, Merle Haggard and Neil Young.
Larry has written numerous original songs over the years. Currently in the band’s rotation is “The Burning Flame,” written in 2017 about the silver lining sometimes found during difficult times.
Larry’s song “Streets of Gold” is the story of his great-great-grandfather Michael McCabe’s journey across the Atlantic Ocean from Ireland to America as a 7-year-old during the potato famine. McCabe ultimately settled in the Westernport area.
The park pool will be open from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
At the concert Sunday, free bottled water will be available as well as free popcorn from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
